How It Works

Watch this step-by-step video on how to create a high quality image with Artzip

From painting to print quality images in a few easy steps.

All you need is your phone and about 10 minutes.

step 1

Measure your art

We use these measurements to help determine the final PPI for your high-res image.

step 2

Light your art and take a photo

Take a photo of the whole painting.  A good reference photo is important because it is used to match the cropped area, brightness, saturation, etc. when delivering your Zip.

Lighting Tips:
  • Even lighting across the face of the painting is recommended.
  • Daylight works very well (outside on overcast day or in the shade on sunny day).
  • If paint is glossy, an indoor lighting system with polarized film is a great solution for removing glare.  This is more labor intensive but relatively easy once you set it up.
step 3

Take detail photos

Keeping your lens in the center of the artwork, slightly tilt the camera up to top left of the painting. Shoot your first detail photo, capturing the whole edge of the painting.

Take photos one after another starting in the top left.
Don't move your camera – angle it keeping your camera in the center.

Take photos one after another, moving left to right in a backwards S pattern. Overlap your photos as you go along being sure to capture the edges.

The number of detail photos you need take depends on the dimensions of your art. The larger the piece the more detail shots you should take.

The left to right pattern you should follow when shooting your photos
step 4

Upload your photos

Upload your photos directly to Artzip

Check to make sure all your segment images uploaded successfully.  Did you capture the edges of the artwork?  Are your images in focus? Don’t worry if they are out of order.
